FAYETTEVILLE: Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Hunter Yurachek of the University of Arkansas announced on Wednesday that John Calipari, the coach who is inducted into the Naismith Hall of Fame and has guided six teams to the Final Four, will become the 14th head men’s basketball coach of the Razorbacks.

To lead the Razorbacks, Calipari has agreed to a five-year contract that will pay him $7 million a season. With a maximum of two automatic rollover years for NCAA Tournament appearances, the contract would run through April 30, 2029, but it would automatically renew until 2031. In addition to a $1 million signing bonus, the agreement calls for retention bonuses of $500,000 every year for the first five years of the contract. If the team makes it to the NCAA Tournament, advance to the Sweet 16, Final Four, or win a national championship, their pay will also increase.

On Wednesday, April 10, at 6 p.m., Calipari will make his official debut at Bud Walton Arena. The public is welcome to attend the event. Bud Walton Arena’s south entrance is where fans should enter. At 5 p.m., doors will open. Lots 46, 56, 56B, and 60 are open for public parking; resident-reserved parking spaces are not available.

According to Yurachek, “John Calipari is one of the best college basketball coaches by all accounts.” As a four-time national coach of the year, a national championship coach, and one of the best recruiters in the country, Coach Cal has continuously shown that he can draw in exceptional players, create championship teams in the Southeastern Conference, and elevate his programmes to the top in the country.
