Carlos Alcaraz, a Spaniard, has declared that he will not participate in the Rome Masters 1000 (May 8–19) after being eliminated from the Madrid Open. The 20-year-old has been dealing with persistent muscular problems for the past month.

Alcaraz, who turns 21 on Sunday, confirmed the information on social media this Friday. He had previously disclosed during a press conference held following his Madrid Open quarterfinal loss to Andrey Rublev that he had been experiencing forearm muscle soreness, which had already forced him to withdraw from the Monte Carlo Masters 1000 and the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell in April. I had not played a match like this in a very long time, and when I woke up, my entire body was tight. Alcaraz stated, “The forearm was there, there, and it has kind of worn me out.”

“After playing in Madrid, I experienced arm soreness. My most recent accident resulted in muscular edema, which I discovered today after doing some testing. Regretfully, I will not be able to perform in Rome. Alcaraz stated on Instagram and X, “I need to relax in order to heal and be able to play pain-free at 100%.

After playing in Madrid, my arm started to hurt a little. I conducted several tests today and discovered that, as a result of my recent accident, I have muscular edema in my pronator teres. Regretfully, I will be unable to perform in Rome. I must take a nap in order to recuperate and play at my best.
