The story has been framed as a “shocking act of generosity” that supposedly transcends sport.

Why the report is unreliable

Several red flags indicate the claim is not credible:

João Gomes is an active Premier League footballer, not an Australian rules football (AFL) player.

There is no record of any transfer or contract involving the AFL.

The reported $109 million signing bonus has not been confirmed by any legitimate football or league authority.

Neither Wolves nor reputable sports news outlets have reported such a development.

Likely origin of the rumor

Stories like this often emerge from fabricated or exaggerated social media posts designed to go viral by mixing real athletes with unrealistic financial figures and unrelated sports leagues.

Bottom line

While the idea of a major athlete making a massive charitable donation is inspiring, this specific story about João Gomes and a $109 million AFL signing bonus is not supported by verified evidence and should be treated as misinformation.

{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

1
258
post-9847","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized","tag-wolves-fc

THIS IS THE BEST NEWS WE COULD HOPE FOR: wolves FC midfielder João Gomes has shocked the AFL world with a selfless act that transcends the game of AFL.
