In a stunning announcement that has set the city of Naples on fire, Dries Mertens\u2014the man the fans affectionately call &#8220;Ciro&#8221;\u2014has officially signed on to join the Napoli FC staff.<\/p>\n<p>This time, however, the club\u2019s all-time leading scorer isn&#8217;t wearing the number 14 jersey; he takes the senior coaching role with Napoli FC to mentor the next generation of Partenopei stars.<\/p>\n<p>The squad was reportedly &#8220;electrified&#8221; during this morning&#8217;s training session when Mertens walked onto the pitch. Veterans and young prospects alike stood in awe as the legend who defined an era of Neapolitan football embraced the team.<\/p>\n<p>In a heartfelt statement delivered shortly after his arrival, Mertens explained that his coming back is to take the team to the absolute pinnacle of world football.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I didn&#8217;t come back just to say hello to old friends,&#8221; Mertens said with his trademark smile. &#8220;I came back because I have a debt of love to this city.
