However, reports of a new five-year contract should be treated cautiously, as the club’s confirmed announcement on July 18, 2025, stated that he had signed improved terms keeping him at Forest until 2027, with an option to extend for another year.

BBC

🔴 Matz Sels’ Importance to Nottingham Forest

Sels has become an important figure at Nottingham Forest since joining from Strasbourg in February 2024. His performances have helped strengthen the team’s defence and provide confidence at the back.

During the 2024–25 Premier League season, the Belgian goalkeeper recorded 13 clean sheets, earning recognition as one of the league’s leading goalkeepers and sharing the Golden Glove award with Arsenal’s David Raya.

BBC

📝 What Does His Contract Mean for Forest?

Keeping an experienced goalkeeper is important for a club seeking consistency in the Premier League. Sels’ experience, shot-stopping ability and leadership make him a valuable member of Forest’s squad.

A longer contract could offer greater stability if the club and player agree to further terms in the future. However, there is currently no confirmation in the sources checked that he has signed the five-year deal described in the headline.

⚽ Forest Supporters Await Further Developments

Nottingham Forest supporters will hope Sels continues to deliver strong performances and help the club compete against some of England’s toughest teams.

For now, the confirmed position is that Sels signed improved terms in July 2025, rather than the five-year contract claimed in the headline. Any further extension should be confirmed by the club before being reported as official.

{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

1
68
post-25417","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized","tag-nottingham-forest
<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.1 -
