Although Milburn is no longer alive and therefore could not sign a new contract, his remarkable legacy continues to have a powerful place in the story of the club.

Known affectionately as “Wor Jackie,” Milburn made 401 appearances for Newcastle United between 1943 and 1957. He scored 200 goals in peacetime fixtures and played a major role in one of the greatest periods in the club’s history.

Milburn was particularly remembered for his extraordinary pace and finishing ability. He helped Newcastle win the FA Cup in 1951, 1952 and 1955, scoring twice in the 1951 final against Blackpool. In the 1955 final against Manchester City, he also scored after just 45 seconds, setting a Wembley FA Cup Final record at the time.

His influence remains visible around St. James’ Park. Newcastle named its main stand the Milburn Stand, while a statue of the legendary forward stands outside the stadium.

The idea of Milburn “returning” to Newcastle can therefore be viewed as a symbolic celebration of his enduring legacy. His vision would represent a Newcastle United built around attacking football, strong community connections, proud traditions and a commitment to producing memorable moments for supporters.

More than six decades after his playing career ended, Jackie Milburn remains an eternal part of Newcastle United folklore. His legacy continues to inspire generations of supporters and players who wear the famous black-and-white shirt.

{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

1
16
post-24939","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized","tag-newcastle-united

BREAKING NEWS: Newcastle United Legendary Striker Jackie Milburn has Signed contract extension that will keep him in the role through the end of the 2030, Jackie Milburn make announcement that want to transform Newcastle United To……see more - topupsport

<meta name="description" content="Jackie Milburn remains one of the most iconic figures in Newcastle United history, and his name continues to...
