Rangers confirmed that McGregor is replacing Sal Bibbo and will lead the club’s goalkeeping infrastructure.

For supporters who watched McGregor produce countless memorable performances at Ibrox, his return represents far more than another coaching appointment. The former Scotland international spent years establishing himself as one of the most respected goalkeepers in Rangers history, making more than 500 appearances for the club before retiring from playing in 2023.

Now, the gloves may be gone, but the responsibility remains.

Working under head coach Derek McInnes, McGregor will be tasked with developing and guiding Rangers’ goalkeepers while helping maintain the standards expected at one of Scotland’s biggest clubs.

His experience could prove invaluable to the next generation. McGregor has experienced title races, domestic cup finals, European nights and the immense pressure that comes with wearing the Rangers shirt.

For Rangers supporters, the message is simple: a legend has come home.

McGregor’s journey from Rangers academy prospect to first-team hero and now senior coach makes his return particularly special. His knowledge of the club, its supporters and the demands placed on Rangers players could make him a crucial figure in McInnes’ new era at Ibrox.

The former goalkeeper previously worked in an interim coaching capacity at Rangers in 2025, making his latest appointment a natural progression into a permanent coaching role.

And with McInnes attempting to build a new Rangers side capable of challenging at the highest level, having a club legend with McGregor’s experience inside the coaching structure could provide an important connection between the club’s proud past and its ambitions for the future.

{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

1
121
post-19153","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized","tag-rangers-fc

THESE IS THE BEST NEWS WE COULD HOPE FOR: In a moment that has sent shockwaves of joy through the valley and The team broader community Rangers FC of Scotland head coach Derek McInnes has officially confirmed that legendary Allan McGregor returning to the organisation _ this time not as a player but as their new senior Goalkeeping C….see more - topupsport

<meta name="description" content="In a moment that has sent waves of excitement through the Rangers community, legendary former goalkeeper Allan McGregor has....
