Instead, Everton confirmed that the club icon will be honored through a special Dixie Dean Legacy Ambassador role, a new initiative designed to keep the spirit, history, and winning mentality of one of Everton’s greatest players alive within the club.

The project will focus on preserving the remarkable legacy of Dean through heritage programs, inspiration for young academy players, and special tributes that celebrate the incredible history of the club. The initiative will also help connect the current generation of players and fans with the legendary achievements that helped shape Everton’s identity.

CEO Angus Kinnear explained that Dixie Dean represents the heart and tradition of Everton Football Club, and that this step ensures his influence will continue to inspire the club for generations to come.

Dean remains one of the most iconic figures in English football history, famously scoring 60 league goals during the 1927–28 season — a record that still stands today.

With David Moyes leading the team into a new era, the club believes bringing the legacy of Dixie Dean closer to the organization will strengthen Everton’s identity and remind everyone what it truly means to wear the famous blue shirt.

More details about the initiative are expected to be announced soon.
