The former England striker, widely regarded as one of the greatest players to ever wear the Palace shirt, has reportedly accepted a senior coaching and mentoring role with the club. Wright explained that his decision to come back was driven by his deep love for Crystal Palace and his desire to help guide the next generation of players.

Speaking about his return, Wright said his mission is to inspire young talent, strengthen the club’s attacking mentality, and help push the team toward European football qualification in the coming seasons. His presence is expected to bring valuable experience, leadership, and a winning mentality inside the dressing room.

Wright originally played for Crystal Palace from 1985 to 1991, scoring over 100 goals and becoming one of the club’s greatest goal scorers before moving on to other clubs and eventually retiring in 2000. Fans are now celebrating the return of a true Palace icon who once helped take the club to the top flight of English football.

Supporters across South London are already calling it “a homecoming of a legend.”
