Alabama’s next football player has made a decision about his future as the 2023 season comes to a close.

According to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports, Alabama senior running back Roydell Williams has entered the transfer portal.

Williams was the Tide’s No. 2 prospect through the 2023 season, backing up starter Jase McClellan.

He could still return to the Crimson Tide program, but for now he will explore his options in the transfer portal.

The 5-10, 215-pound tailback is part of the latest college class to receive an extra season of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He appeared in all 14 games for the Tide in 2023, accumulating 560 rushing yards on 111 carries with five touchdowns and another touchdown.

One of his biggest strengths is on special teams, as he has played in both kickoff coverage and returns. Williams contributed four special teams tackles this year.

In 45 games of action, he totaled 1,165 yards and 11 touchdowns while totaling 152 yards through the air with two scores.

The former Hueytown High School Golden Gopher arrived at Alabama as a 4-star recruit.

With his departure, the Tide brings back JAM Miller, Justice Haynes, Richard Young and new signing Kevin Riley to its running back room in 2024.

Alabama players still have a day and a half to enter the transfer portal if they wish, as the Tide had five days after the end of the season to make that decision.

He is the 16th Alabama player to come through the gate.
