Brewers shortstop Watching Friday night’s game against the San Francisco Giants from the dugout, Willy Adames was hit by a foul ball from teammate Brian Anderson, and had to spend the night in the hospital.
The manager of Milwaukee, Craig Counsell, said following the Giants’ 15-1 victory, “He was alert and responsive as he left, and then we got pretty good news at the hospital, too.” He is obviously in pain. Nevertheless, given how frightening it was, I believe the news is generally not bad.”

Although tests did not show any fractures, Counsell said that Adames would be admitted to the hospital for the night “just for monitoring purposes” and would be added to the injured list.
Counsell stated, “You can expect him to be released tomorrow morning.” “There will be a concussion.
In the bottom of the second inning, Anderson was batting when he hit a line drive that got past Adames. It looked from the video that Adames had been struck in the face or head.
To give Milwaukee’s training staff time to tend to Adames, who was sitting on the bench, the game was halted for a short while. Anderson was waiting close to the batter’s box, and his worry was visible on his face.
Mike Brosseau of the Brewers, who was on deck at the time, said, “At first, I thought it hit the cushioned pad.” “You’re scared by the way they responded to it, but after they were on the bench for a few seconds, I realized it was a little more serious.
Brosseau continued, “It’s a one-in-a-million chance.” It’s just frightful. Though I’m not sure how hard BA hit the ball, I can tell it was coming off very hot. That kind of direct contact is really unpleasant to witness.
The Brewers appeared emotionally affected by the situation for the remainder of the evening.
The Giants opened up the game by forcing Milwaukee into two errors and allowing seven runs in the top of the third inning after Adames was replaced at shortstop by Brice Turang. Freddy Peralta, the pitcher for the Brewers and close friend of Adames, allowed a career-high ten runs.
“It’s hard to see somebody that you love having that moment,” Peralta stated.
