The NFL offseason storm is about to pick up steam. For the Philadelphia Eagles, it’s the quiet before the storm till then.

As the calendar continues to tick down to the start of the new league year on March 13 and the three days leading up to it known as the legal tampering period, they have already taken three actions. That’s when the lightning strikes, the thunder starts, and money starts raining.

Those three movements can result in large splashes, or they might just create little puddles. Here is a look at every player they signed as a reserve or for potential future deals:

Linebacker Julian Okwara – Signed on Valentine’s Day, this could be the most romantic agreement of the three. The Eagles need linebackers, as everyone knows. Howie Roseman, general manager included. At just 26, Okwara has experience in the league. He was a 2020 Detroit Lions third-round selection who appeared in 38 games, making nine starts. In a 2021 game against the Eagles, he played 36 defensive snaps and recorded three tackles, one of which was for a loss as the Eagles won 44-6. In the 2022 season opener against Philadelphia, he did not play.

In just nine games last season, Okwara recorded seven tackles and two sacks. However, he was cut loose prior to the Lions’ NFC Divisional Round matchup, signed to the practice the following day, and was not extended a futures contract offer by Detroit. You may be wondering why he left, but perhaps the Notre Dame graduate can find a favorable position on Vic Fangio’s defense and with a new squad.

RB Tyrion Davis-Price If you’ve heard this before, stop me: Running back for the San Francisco 49ers, selected in the third round, signs with the Eagles. It’s Davis-Price this time.

It was Trey Sermon from two years ago, whom the Eagles retained for a year before cutting him following training camp and having the Indianapolis Colts eventually claim him.
Similar to Sermon, Davis-Price was selected in the third round of the 2022 draft; however, whereas Sermon was selected from Ohio State, Davis-Price comes from LSU. Davis-Price has only played in seven games as a professional, logging 40 carries for 120 yards.

Although Kenny Gainwell is the only running back on the team with a contract, the Eagles need running backs more than linebackers.

Davis-Price might find a place in head coach Kellen Moore’s offense if he proves he can play.
Darian Kinnard, OT: The University of Kentucky product was selected in the fifth round of the 2022 draft and has two Super Bowl rings from his time with the Kansas City Chiefs. His one 2022 game was his contribution. He played every game of the previous season on the practice squad. He was a first-team All-American at Kentucky and had once started 39 games in a row.

The Eagles, particularly in light of the possibility of Jack Driscoll’s departure in free agency, want depth at tackle behind starters Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata.

Although Philly still has Brett Toth and Fred Johnson, it’s always a good idea to have one more unheralded player for line coach Jeff Stoutland to shape, especially one who played for two years for one of the best-run teams in football.
