Jesse Perry signs with Tennessee2024 three-star offensive tackle Jesse Perry (Murfreesboro, Tenn.)
signed his National Letter of Intent with the Tennessee Volunteers.
Early National Signing Day is right around the corner and the Tennessee Volunteers are hoping to finish strong.
They’ve recruited at a rapid pace under coach Josh Heupel, landing some big difference-makers in their signing class of 2023.
Volunteer Country will give readers an in-depth look at each signee.Offensive tackle Jesse Perry is the 11th commit to submit the National Letter of Intent.
He is player number 768 of the cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He looks at what the Vols are getting.
Frame: Excellent height and length, more than enough to play competitive soccer in the SEC.
However, he needs to add about 50 pounds of good weight before consistently seeing the field for the Vols.
He has one season of high school left, which means much of that weight will be in a college gym.
Athletic qualities: Very good mobility for a man of his size. Stay light on your feet; Offensive linemen usually wander around the field and look awkward; Perry actually looks fast.
He’ll need to maintain that grace and balance as he gains weight, but his early athletic profile is promising.
Instincts: Middle Tennessee’s Christian hasn’t given him many passing sets, but when it comes to run blocking, he has elite short-yardage instincts.
They are leading a niche offensive aimed at penetrating Perry. If he doesn’t somehow reach the second level and finish the case, it’s not good.
Pools: Tennessee adds quality depth for the first few seasons, with starting potential moving forward.
Perry is pretty rough right now and will need a big jump once he gets to a college campus.Bottom line:
The Vols coaching staff added a three-star with tremendous size, strong athleticism and someone whose high school offense revolves around them at right tackle.
Perry may not set the world on fire when he arrives on campus, but he has the tools to compete.
