Your Miami HEAT announced today that they have signed guard Delon Wright. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
His average of 1.84 thefts per game at the end of the previous season was slightly above Jimmy Butler’s 1.83 steals per game, who finished in third place in the NBA.
He had the fourth-most thefts in the NBA last season with 18 games with at least three steals. This season, Wright has nine multi-steal games under his belt.
On January 5 at Cleveland, he recorded a season-high five takeaways. On February 7th, he recorded his 600th career theft against.
Cleveland and provided his 1,500th assist of his career on January 15 against Detroit. In addition, Dorell Wright, the older brother of Wright, was selected by the HEAT in the first round of the 2004 NBA Draft (19th overall), and he played a key role in Miami’s 2006 NBA Championship squad.
After playing in 494 NBA games (84 starts) across his nine-year NBA career, Wright averaged 7.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.22 steals, and 20.8 minutes per game.
He also shot 80.5 percent from the foul line and 45.3 percent from the field.
With 337 steals off the bench from 2018 to 2019, the former first-round draft pick (20th overall) in 2015 has the second-highest total of any reserve in the NBA.
