The announcement on Friday that Joe Burrow will miss the entire season due to a ruptured ligament has put the Cincinnati Bengals in a terrible situation. As fans witnessed during the second half of their lopsided loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night, Burrow’s replacement, backup quarterback Jake Browning, had a significant drop off.

Against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night, Burrow sustained an odd injury. It is rare for a quarterback to clutch his wrist during a follow-through after a touchdown pass.

Burrow was unable to hold onto the ball when attempting to collect warm-up passes on the sidelines, as seen in the Amazon Prime Video broadcast. Early in the second half, he returned to the locker room and was declared out.

Taylor claimed Burrow “looked like” he had a sprained wrist after the game.

After being selected undrafted out of Washington in 2019, Browning didn’t even get the opportunity to play in an NFL game until this year’s season opener, where he completed just one of his one and only throw. Up until Thursday night when he was called upon for action, that was his last NFL pass. The majority of Browning’s 68 yards passing came on Cincinnati’s last drive in a 34-20 defeat.
