Pitching coach of the New York Yankees says top prospect will debut in 2024.
Anticipate the debut of one of the top pitching prospects for the New York Yankees during the 2024 campaign.
Even with the AL Cy Young winner leading their rotation, there are still many unanswered issues about the New York Yankees starting rotation going into the season.
The pillar of stability is Gerrit Cole. Throughout his term, he has demonstrated that.
After him, though, nobody is really sure how Carlos Rodon will do following a season beset by injuries, whether Nestor Cortes can regain his 2022 form following an injury-plagued year of his own, and whether recent addition Marcus Stroman can be reliable.
If everything goes according to plan, Cortes will be the All-Star he was in 2022, Stroman will continue his six-year record of having a sub-4.00 ERA, and Rodon will be the pitcher that combined for a 10.5 bWAR in 2021 and 2022.
However, this is baseball, and baseball is unexpected in general.
For this reason, after making it to Triple-A in his second professional season, Matt Blake, the pitching coach for the Yankees, believes one of their outstanding pitching prospects will make his Major League debut this year.
Will Warren was selected by New York in the eighth round of the 2021 MLB Draft. Ever since, he’s risen quickly through their pipeline and is vying to be a contributor this year.
“I believe that at some time this year, he will undoubtedly be considered. Blake told Gary Phillips of The New York Daily News, “Obviously, if health stays perfect for us, he may be the odd man out, but just with the way 162 games shake out, I’m sure his name will be called at some point.”
