After beginning 2023–24 with Preston North End, the right-back, who joined the Reds in 2022, now plays for the League One team.
Ramsay, a senior Scotland international, made two appearances for Jürgen Klopp in his first season at Anfield before an injury that needed surgery ended his season.
Bolton, who are vying for promotion to the Championship and are presently second in League One, will play their next game on Tuesday night when they go to Blackpool for the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.
The Scotland international, who was returned after a stint with Preston North End, has joined the Whites for the remainder of the campaign.
Ramsay is available for tomorrow night’s Bristol Street Motors Trophy quarterfinal at Blackpool, according to the club, and is healthy to play.
In the summer of 2022, Liverpool made a £4.2 million upfront payment for Ramsay; the total cost of the transfer might reach £6 million.
Ramsay was loaned out to Preston in the Championship after making a few appearances in the Cup and Europe, but he was only able to play in two league games due to a knee injury and a case of covid.
The 20-year-old was rumoured to be interested in joining Southampton and Leeds United on loan, but Bolton—who excelled with Reds full-back Conor Bradley last season—won the race.
Ian Evatt confirmed the deal this afternoon and said, “Calvin is a really talented young player.” It’s clear that he had a number of reasons why things didn’t work out at Preston, and we can appreciate those reasons. With a huge reputation and a hefty transfer fee for his age, he came to Liverpool.
“We felt that we needed some competition in that area as well as some additional options.” We are very fortunate to have him here.
“We are grateful that Liverpool trusted us with him, and we have a great relationship with them.”
