In less than 72 hours, Byrne hired former Washington Huskies head coach Kalen DeBoer on January 12.While Saban will no longer be on the sidelines, Byrne told Finebaum that the seven-time national champion will play a role in the football program moving forward.

Saban’s resignation came shortly after a season in which Alabama won another SEC championship and secured a spot in the College Football Playoff.
His decision left Alabama in turmoil as it tried to find a replacement for the coaching legend.

And they got top transfers in quarterback Will Howard from Kansas State, Ole Miss running back Quinshon Judkins, offensive lineman Seth McLaughlin from Alabama and Caleb Downs from Alabama.
