Quez Watkins hardly plays against the Giants, according to Eagles snap counts that first aired on NBC Sports Philadelphia

Occasionally, deeds speak louder than words.

Additionally, Quez Watkins played just one offensive action against the Giants in Week 16 despite Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni’s declaration last week that he was confident in Watkins.

Watkins, 25, finished as the Eagles’ No. 2 receiver in 2021 after having a very strong season. However, he had a dismal season in 2022 and has since suffered even more in 2023. This season, he has only appeared in eight games and has only seven catches for 49 yards.

Jalen Hurts attempted to hit Watkins with a long ball against the Seahawks, but Watkins missed and the ball was picked off.

“We’ll see. Once more, we have faith in him as a colleague and player. Jones has performed admirably. Olamide Zaccheaus has performed admirably. Three players alternate as our number three receivers. We’ll watch to see where the reps end up. We’ll see because every game design varies slightly in terms of the roles and tasks that players are expected to do.

Watkins only saw one snap of action against the Giants. Watkins has appeared in 16, 46, 26, 36, and now 1 snap in the previous five games since returning from injured reserve.

The Eagles defeated the Giants 33-25, and the following is how the snap counts at receiver broke down:

A.J. Brown: 11 targets, 6 snaps (9

All 75 offensive snaps were played by Jalen Hurts and his entire offensive line. Landon Dickerson, who had thumb surgery earlier in the week, was replaced at left guard by Sua Opeta. Additionally, Cam Jurgens (abdomen) returned to the game after being absent the previous week.

• With 43 snaps, D’Andre Swift led the running backs, followed by Boston Scott with two and Kenny Gainwell with thirty. Gainwell and Swift both had good games. With 20 carries for 92 yards, Swift had a solid fourth-quarter finish. Gainwell completed nine touches for 79 yards from scrimmage.

• In this game, the Eagles’ tight ends played a significant role. After Dallas Goedert (64 snaps), Jack Stoll (39), and Grant Calcaterra (14), in order of play. The Eagles had twelve players on
