January 18 – Gary Trent Jr. scored 28 points, including eight 3-pointers, to lead the Toronto Raptors past the Miami Heat 121-97 on Wednesday night.
RJ Barrett added 26 points for the Raptors, who ended a four-game losing streak. Scottie Barnes had 20 points and Immanuel Quickley had 17 points.
The Raptors led by 37 points and never trailed in defeat.
Earlier Wednesday, Toronto agreed to trade two-time All-Star forward Pascal Siakam to the Indiana Pacers for forwards Bruce Brown and Jordan Nwora and three first-round picks. The deal was finalized Wednesday evening.
Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo each scored 16 points for the Heat, whose three-game winning streak ended.
Duncan Robinson added 14 points while Caleb Martin and Nikola Jovic finished with 10 points each in the loss.Toronto took a 21-point lead in the fourth quarter.
The lead fell to 13 with 8:46 left before Trent made a three-pointer.Toronto scored the first 10 points of the game and led 41-18 after the first quarter. The Raptors started the second quarter on a 15-2 run and lead by 36 points.
Herro scored four straight points for the Heat, cutting the lead to 32 with 4:19 to play in the first half.Barrett made a 10-foot jumper and added the free throw and Toronto led 72-37 with 3:07 left.
Barnes completed the scoring in the first half with a layup to give the Raptors a 78-43 lead.The Raptors shot 29 of 48 from the floor (60.4%) in the first half, with Barrett scoring 17 points.
Toronto went 14-of-22 (63.6%) on three-point attempts. Miami shot 18 of 46 (39.1%) in the first half, with Butler scoring 10 points.
The Heat opened the third quarter with a 12-4 surge. Jovic’s 3-pointer cut the lead to 19 with 5:14 left in the third.
Quickley’s 3-pointer increased the lead to 24 with 57 seconds left. Robinson hit a 3-pointer to complete the scoring in the third quarter and cut the lead to 94-73.Jaime Jaquez Jr. (groin) and Kevin Love (knee) did not play for Miami.
